The Legal Department consists of 18 team-members and is represented in Germany (Hamburg and Husum), Austria (Vienna), The Netherlands (Arnhem) and South-Africa (Johannesburg). The legal support is provided for the German speaking countries, Benelux, Eastern Europe and Balkan-countries, as well as the Southern and South-Eastern part of Africa. The Legal Department is part of Vestas Wind Systems A/S in Denmark and consists of more than 100 highly motivated colleagues worldwide.

Reporting to the Vice President Legal Central Europe, the Lawyer (f/m) provides legal support for Vestas, the leading global provider of wind power plant solutions, in eastern and southern Europe. He/she will, together with other members of the legal department, facilitate: drafting, reviewing and negotiating wind power plant sales, operations and maintenance, and other related agreements; effectively managing external counsel where necessary; supporting response to tenders and auction requests; interacting with global legal and business colleagues on multi-jurisdictional transactions and initiatives; addressing corporate formation and governance issues; managing outstanding litigation and disputes; and advising clients on complex transactions and legal issues.

Responsibilities:

Support international sales and service transactions in existing and emerging European markets
Draft, negotiate and review contracts and bring innovative, business-oriented solutions
Provide unbiased strategic and legal counsel to the business
Ensure compliance with national legislation, internal rules and group guidelines
Analyze complex legal cases, including risk-assessment and elaborate on solutions for risk mitigation
Assist the business development team with entry into new markets in eastern and southern Europe
Manage entity formation and governance issues
Select and manage external law firms in local markets
Work with the rest of the legal team to pursue a path of continuous improvement


Qualifications:

Several years’ experience in an international environment, preferably in eastern Europe or Balkan states, in a law firm or international in-house legal department
Special legal expertise on contract law, construction law, energy law and/or corporate law
Experience in negotiating construction, project finance or high-value capital equipment sales agreements
Excellent English language writing and speaking skills; written and spoken fluency in Slavic (for example: Russian, Ukrainian, etc.) or German language
Pro-active and positive attitude and able to cope with unexpected situations and challenges
Strong communication skills
Superior time management skills. Ability to excel in a fast-paced and demanding business environment
Flexibility with travel, based on company needs and objectives
